Thursday in the Sixth Week of Easter - Optional Memorial of Sts. Marcellinus & Peter, martyrs -

O God, who made your people partakers in your redemption, grant us, we pray, that we may perpetually render thanks for the Resurrection of the Lord. Who lives and reigns with you.

A Priest and an Exorcist

Today the liturgy permits the Optional Memorial of two early martyrs.  Their memorial in Rome is found in the cardinalatial church of Aloysius Cardinal Ambrozic, emeritus archbishop of Toronto whose 35th anniversary of episcopal ordination was observed last week on May 27.

Under the Emperor Diocletian, Peter, an exorcist of the Church of Rome, was sent to prison. There he converted the jailer and his entire family to the faith of Christ.

They were all baptized by the priest Marcellinus. Condemned to death by the judge Serenus, Marcellinus and Peter were beheaded after atrocious torments.

O God, who surround us with protection through the glorious confession of the Martyrs Saints Marcellinus and Peter, grant that we may profit by imitating them and be upheld by their prayer. Through our Lord.

Nos diacres et leurs épouses / Our Deacons and Their Wives

Chaque année à la fin de mai, l’archevêque d’Ottawa invite la communauté diaconale à un souper festif; c’est toujours joyeux.

Voici la preuve :

Each spring, I host a dinner for the deacons who serve our Archdiocese of Ottawa and their wives; it’s always a festive occasion as may be deduced from the following photos:

It's all about losing a bet for a good cause....
